Some 36 of the regiments ‘best’ past and present golfers assembled at Formby Golf Club on Thursday 24th September 2009, to pit their 'skills' against this fantastic championship course. As in past years, mainly the course won but with a few notable exceptions, it makes writing about this event fairly easy and short! The competition was played over 18 holes and scored using the Stableford points system (7/8ths). Mick Hunt summed up the majority of the scoring, stating that Ged Starkey had more points on his driving licence than he had on his score card!
It was great to see the old and the bold, the younger guys from 1 LANCS and a few from 2 LANCS out on the course. The weather was kind to us and we all enjoyed a superb day out, followed by a great evening meal in the club house dinning room. Grateful thanks must go to Captain (Ret’d) Mick Hunt, Liverpool Area Secretary, for all his hard work organising this annual event and to Formby Golf Club Captain, Mr James Harrocks and Members of Formby Golf Club for allowing us the use of the course and facilities.
