A British journalist has been rescued in a dramatic pre-dawn raid by Nato forces in Afghanistan. Stephen Farrell, 46, was abducted in Kunduz province on Saturday along with his Afghan interpreter Sultan Munadi. They were kidnapped by Taliban fighters while attempting to visit the scene of a Nato air strike, which killed dozens of civilians. Farrell was freed by British special forces, but Munadi, 34, was shot dead in the raid. In a brief phone call, Farrell told Susan Chira, the foreign editor of The New York Times: "I'm out! I'm free!" He told her he had been "extracted" by a commando raid carried out by "a lot of soldiers" in a fierce firefight with his captors. More >>Attachments:
