An explosive device has been found at a house in Moneymore, County Londonderry. The alert was raised shortly after 2230 BST on Thursday after police received reports of suspicious activity. Police said an Army ammunitions expert made safe a viable explosive device in the back yard of a house at Smith Street.
In a separate incident a crude device was found outside a vacant property on Main Street in Tobermore on Friday morning. One line of inquiry in Moneymore is that the device was thrown at the house but failed to go off. Detectives have appealed for information. In Tobermore the alert was raised shortly after 0730 BST and a number of houses in the immediate area were evacuated.
Army ammunitions expert were called and items were taken away for further examination.
