A consultation process to look at more ways to improve the welfare support given to the Armed Forces and their families has been launched by the MOD today, Thursday, 16 July 2009. A Green Paper, "The Nation's Commitment to the Armed Forces Community: Consistent and Enduring Support", will look at how to prevent Service personnel and their families being disadvantaged due to their unique circumstances in accessing public services such as housing, education and healthcare. It will also look to provide them with tailored routes through which to address complaints. The consultation follows the publication in July 2008 of the Service Personnel Command Paper, called "The Nations Commitment: Cross-Government Support to our Armed Forces, their Families and Veterans" which set out more than 40 measures to improve the lives of the Armed Forces community.
