There has been a "minor explosion" in Armagh, the police have said.
A device, on Friary Road, has been made safe by an Army bomb disposal team. No damage or injuries were caused in the blast.
Chief Inspector Ken Mawhinney said those behind the device had "a total disregard for the people of Armagh".
"These people do not care about the possible tragic outcome of their criminal activities. They must be isolated," he said.
The police have appealed for anyone with information about the attack to contact them. They did not comment on the nature of the device or who they believed to be behind it.
