Everyone should now be aware that the Queen has introduced the Elizabeth Cross and scroll for all who have been killed on active service since 1947. The Cross is a cross surmounted onto a wreath in sterling silver - no ribbon. The large cross is for formal wear and a smaller lapel size cross for every day wear. The scroll will record the name of the person and signed by the Queen. Personnel killed after 2000 will get an automatic award those before will have to apply for the Cross and scroll. The information for this is on the governments website but if anyone needs help I will be happy to assist. I know we will all agree that we have waited too long for this acknowledgment but nevertheless it comes as a very fitting tribute for which the families will be so grateful. At last they are remembered for their loss by Queen and country. I for one, on seeing someone with wearing the Cross, some months away yet, will shake their hand and thanks them for their sacrifice.

Mr Oakley Sir.. I agree with your sentiments entirely. I feel sure that anyone receiving this medal will wear it with pride.
