MoD mistakes waste £300m Taypayers cover costs of scandalous blunders Published: 27 January 2009
Related links: Weblink: The MoD More than £300 million of the public’s spending money has been wasted on blunders made by the MoD.
According to the MoD’s accounts for the financial year ending in 2008, the Government has had to fork out millions due to book-keeping errors, sloppy contract mistakes and alarming gaps in payroll.
Mistakes included a £1.4 million payment made to military pensioners on benefits that was made in ‘error’.
A further £9 million was wasted when the MoD cancelled an aviation computer system.
Liam Fox, the Shadow Defence Secretary, said the revelations were ‘scandalous’.
“The MoD budget should be spent on supporting our troops in the vital operations they carry out to defend our country,” he added.
An MoD spokesman said: “The House of Commons Defence Committee monitors this area very closely and MoD losses have been decreasing year on year.”
(CAMMY) My view is, that they don't monitor it close enough? If they know where the holes are PLUG them. If they don't know where there holes are by now SACK them & get people in that are interested in putting money in the right areas

Well, what can we expect when the country's 'accountant' has to pay for an accountant to advise him on his own financial affairs?
