There is this morning a young lady from Manchester who has every right to feel extremely worried. Why...? Because I have in my hand her bank account number, her sort code, her NI number, full name and address and a photocopy of the ID pages of her Passport!
Because I am basically an honest person this lady is in no danger of being defrauded of anything, but that should not allow her to relax completely because there is no assurance that this whole thing will not happen again. The bank that sent these details to me (Along with information belonging to me - all in the same envelope ) is none other than:
Barclays Bank. The office responsible for this inexcusable lapse of security is the main office at Leeds.
I am considering how to go about resolving this and punishing Barclays for this lapse. I intend to contact the lady in question to let her know how Barclays have treated her personal details, but as for taking them to task, I'm not really decided on that yet.

What a total breach of security. Tell the papers Frenchie, they love stories like that.
I also think you should, and the other lady concerned, be compensated too.

I have thought of that and even sent an email to Granada News (No answer yet). I'm not sure they would run with a 'one off' but it could be a general cock up and there could be a lot more out there.
It makes you wonder what else they've cocked up though doesn't it.

Write to your local papers' letters column, asking if anyone else from the area has had a similar experience. I don't doubt that would spur the company to place some sort of response in print, maybe even force them onto local tv to defend their record. It might even go further from there.
