A school, a health clinic and government buildings have been opened by the first Afghan central government minister to travel to Sangin during a visit that 2nd Battalion The Rifles helped provide security for. The three new facilities were opened recently by Mohammad Ehsan Zia, the Minister for Rural Rehabilitation and Development, who had come down from the central government in Kabul. 400 local people also defied potential intimidation to attend a shura outside the school to listen to Minister Zia and the Governor of Helmand, Gulab Mangal.
