A dissident republican arrested in south Armagh was questioned about the Omagh bombing, it has emerged. Belfast Recorder's Court was given more details about Liam Campbell's arrest at the weekend on Friday. Defence lawyers said the 46-year-old was questioned over the 1998 Real IRA attack then released and rearrested under a European Arrest Warrant. The Lithuanian authorities are seeking his extradition over a suspected plot to smuggle arms to Ireland. Details of the original reasons for his detention last Friday emerged as his lawyers urged a judge not to oversee fresh extradition proceedings against him in Northern Ireland. Read More >>

Too bad about the legislation that allows criminals to be tried in the North for crimes in the South and vice versa, so the extradition request would be heard with equal disdain in a court on either side of the border.
