An 18-year-old soldier from 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers has found a haul of Taliban weapons on his second patrol in Afghanistan. During a search of a local Afghan compound Fusilier Daryl Toone, using a metal detector, found a loaded AK-47 rifle, a pistol and a combat vest containing five magazines of ammunition. 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers are in Afghanistan working alongside colleagues from 2nd Battalion The Rifles. Fusilier Toone, from Lancashire, is part of A Company, 2nd Battalion The Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, and is currently based at Forward Operating Base Nolay, to the south of Sangin, in the lush and fertile area known as the Green Zone as it runs alongside the Helmand River.
