The funeral of a Belfast-based soldier shot dead in Afghanistan earlier this month has taken take place in his adopted city. Corporal Sean Binnie, 22, who served with the Black Watch 3rd battalion, was killed on a patrol in Helmand province. Cpl Binnie, who was originally from the Irish Republic, settled in Northern Ireland after meeting his future wife, whom he married six months ago. He was buried at Roselawn Cemetary with full military honours. Cpl Binnie's Regimental Lieutenant Colonel, Alan Whitelaw, paid tribute to his bravery. "It was during a mission with the Afghans where he tragically lost his life leading from the front and setting a great example," he said. More >>
