Over 330 troops from 1st The Queen's Dragoon Guards (QDG) have returned to their base in Germany following a six-month deployment to Afghanistan as part of 3 Commando Brigade where they carried out a variety of front line tasks across Helmand province. Soldier with his daughter C Squadron were the first of the QDG to complete their tour, having deployed earliest to take over as the 'Mastiff Group', crewing the formidable armoured vehicle of the same name designed to give protected mobility in high risk areas. This meant the squadron was split, with the bulk supporting the 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles Battle Group in Musa Qaleh and a troop supporting The Queen's Dragoon Guards Battle Group in Garmsir.
