We were invited to our first BBQ of the year last night. It was next door, no driving, no long walk home, no options but to go for it really I'm paying for it this morning. It was a great night though, worth every minute of this headache.....I think!

Hangovers are ok - its that period after waking up when you don't know if you are in the doghouse for anything, and struggling to remember what it was...... A big mug of tea and a vast fried breakfast, wiv loads of - oh, excuse me.....(runs off holding hand to mouth)

Jimbo, I was at Sion Mills in 75 (on rotation) I remember the milk man too, and the canteen staff's kids who used to come to work sometimes with their 'mams'.

Did a PRUDR (Province reserve - basically sent anywhere) up in Sion Mills in 79 I think - 3RGJ were up there then. Wee rathole of a camp - Jimbo you deserved a medal for sticking it for 18 months! Its all flattened now, I think they built houses over it. You've hit a good point there, you know the way people know their locals by what they do, i.e Jimbo the postie, Ed the obstetrician etc, well it was the same with RUC and UDR - everyone knew who you were, there was no hiding it. No bloody point either in an area like Sion Mills, surrounded by bad areas.

didn't last the 18 months there, they decided I was getting too old for the recce(that's what they told me) so I was posted to ebrington bks. as p.o.l. nco, took over from danny main,a fanatical liverpool supporter
