'A police review' which will quietly put itself to sleep. The Firearms Licencing people (all life-long civil servants) don't actually like people having guns, nasty things, they get in the way of nice paperwork. Until the recent murders they were actively removing PPW rights to firearms held by 'ex', now this has brought it back into the spotlight. What is the key 'out' for them is the specific threat criteria, which removes most people from successful applications. Now with threat levels at their highest for ten years the pressure is back on to allow retentions, and also to have a level playing field for all applicants i.e. no preference to 'certain' applicants.
