This one just in:
Dear Sir, I believe my Uncle may have been in the 20th Battalion of the King's (Liverpool Regiment) and was killed in Flanders on the 9th April 1917. His regimental number I believe was 51746. I would like to be in a position to confirm that Private William Duncan Johnston was indeed my father's elder brother and need your help please in order to do so. I would also like to obtain a copy of his service record. If this is the right William Duncan Johnston, I understand that his name appears in Henin Crucifix Cemetery (memorial or grave A40). My father's elder brother was born in 1896/1897 in Liverpool. His parents were Robert James Johnston and Henrietta Johnston. However, his father died in 1902. As he would have been aged 17/18 I imagine he would have given his mother's name as next-of-kin although she actually died on the 22nd April 1914 so perhaps he would have given his elder sister as his next of kin. His siblings at that time were Constance Ethel Johnston, Agnes Mary Johnston, Blanche Johnston, Robert Leslie Johnston, Dorothy Johnston and Eric Johnston. I would very much appreciate your help in this matter. If you perhaps are unable to confirm the above one way or the other, is it possible to point me in the right direction in order that I can follow up on this information? Thank you in anticipation.
