A HOST of football kits, toys, games and memories are packed into two chests in the Jones household. When Rhys was gunned down around the corner from his house his mum Melanie was determined to move to somewhere new to escape the heartache. The family came close to putting the house on the market and refused to let Rhys’s room become a shrine to him – redecorating it in a plain and simple fashion soon after his death. But now, as the raw pain of their loss eases a little, they have decided to stay and remember the happier times they have had in the house as a family. Melanie said: “When it first happened, I just wanted to grab Ste and Owen and say let’s get out of here, let’s move, let’s just go. “But we are not moving now. We still have so many happy memories here.” Stephen said: “When we were thinking about moving, the advice we had was to redecorate his room and take down his pictures because we would get some ghouls coming round for a look, not interested in buying, just wanting to see where Rhys Jones lived.
