Two British hostages in Iraq are believed to be dead, according to Sky sources. They are security guards Alan McMenemy, from Scotland, and Alec Maclachlan, from south Wales. The pair were captured in Baghdad in 2007 along with fellow security guards Jason Swindlehurst and Jason Creswell and the man they were guarding, IT consultant Peter Moore. The bodies of Mr Swindlehurst, from Skelmersdale, Lancashire, and Mr Creswell, of Glasgow, were returned to the British embassy in the Iraqi capital last month. The fate of Mr Moore, from Lincoln, remains unknown. The Foreign Office refused to comment on the case, saying it did not discuss operational details. But Sky News foreign affairs editor Tim Marshall said he understood that while there was a "faint glimmer" of hope the two might still be alive, it was likely the pair were dead. Sky News Report >>
