A £5,000 reward was today put up to catch a suspected gun thug. Michael Farrell, 22, from Stockbridge Village, is currently listed as “at large” on police computers after failing to turn up to court over a burglary. A warrant was issued for his arrest by the judge. But officers from the police Matrix team want to bring in Farrell, known around Knowsley as “Sick Mick,” after a number of recent shootings. They believe he may have been involved in a broad daylight machine gun shoot-out in Huyton. And they are also exploring possible links between him and the shooting of a pensioner outside a bingo hall in Dovecot. Police are so worried about the firepower used in the shoot-out on Liverpool Road, at 5.30pm on Saturday July 4, they have already put up a separate £25,000 reward to get the guns used, and those involved, off the streets. Two youths on scrambler bikes were chased along Liverpool Road and Princess Drive as shots were fired towards them from a stolen black Audi A3. And it is believed the riders then fired back as they sped along. Police found casings from two different deadly automatic weapons at scenes on Liverpool Road and nearby Saxby Road. Picture >>
