THE man allegedly attacked by Liverpool FC skipper Steven Gerrard today told a court how he was hit with “a barrage of punches”.
Businessman Marcus McGee, 34, took to the witness stand at Liverpool crown court to relive the night of December 28 last year.
Mr McGee, dressed in a dark blue suit, white shirt and black-and-white striped tie, told the jury he had been out with friends earlier in the evening before they ended up in Southport’s Lounge Inn, in Bold Street.
Mr McGee said he was friendly with the owners, Mac Naidoo and Sabrina Malik, and was a regular in the bar with his girlfriend Gina Lond.
On the night, he had been asked to pick some songs to be played in the club, something he said he had been asked to do before.
He said Gerrard, who was also in the bar with friends, came over to him and asked for control of the music.
Mr McGee said: “I was stood by the stereo with the list [of songs] in my hand and Mr Gerrard came to me from my left-hand side and requested that he wanted control of the music.
“It was something to the effect of ‘can I have that, lad? Here y’are, give me that, lad’.
“I did not give it to him. First of all, it was not my permission to be handing it over to someone else.
“He made a movement to try and grab the card and I moved the card away and it fell on the floor.
“He then walked away and that was the end of it.”

Bloody Handbags for crying out loud. It happens all the time in pubs & clubs all over the country. Just because he is a footballer people take things far beyound where it should have ended. Although he shoud have had the sence to walk away in the first place. There are plenty more bars with music....

I agree, but when you're in the public eye, and a role model............
