It is the end of an era for the British Forces Broadcasting Service (BFBS) as they broadcast their last live programme from Operation TELIC yesterday, Sunday 12 July 2009. After six continuous years of broadcasting throughout the British operation in Iraq, BFBS transmitted its last ever live broadcast from Kuwait. The Joint Force Logistic Component (JFLogC) Headquarters was the location for the historic broadcast and is also the HQ of the team organising the return of all useable equipment back to the UK following the end of the British combat mission in Iraq. BFBS proved to be extremely popular with the troops as the presenters went through many experiences with them, including continuing to broadcast through indirect fire attacks on the Contingency Operating Base in Basra and when a rocket landed only 20 metres from the studio leaving shrapnel on the roof. Accusations that BFBS had a better reliablilty record and was of more tactical use than Bowman have been denied by the MoD. ;D
