Palace Barracks Memorial Garden
Ladies & Gentlemen, we have received the following appeal from a NIVA member which is very close to all our hearts so you may wish to make a suitable contribution. NIVA will be making a donation on behalf of the Association. If you wish, please copy this and send it on to any other Regimental/Corps association you may be a member of.
Thank you.
"Dear G,
Palace Barracks Memorial Gardens:
I was speaking to Albert Owens the Custodian of the Palace Barracks Memorial Gardens and he tells me that the MOD will no longer cut the grass or clean the footpaths at the Memorial Gardens, he has to do this from now on. This means that he has to buy some new equipment for which he has no source of funding. he needs £980.00 to get a Lawnmower, Power Washer and a Car Trailer. . As you know Albert looks after the Memorial Gardens without any financial support or payment, he relies totally on goodwill donations for its upkeep. The Fallen from all Corps and Regiments who died on OP BANNER and other conflicts are lovingly remembered there by him and it is a great credit to him that he does this. It Is also a very tangible link for many to the comrades/relatives they lost in action.
I ask that if you are able to support Albert in any way that you might consider doing so. It is a very worthwhile cause and he would appreciate any donations, large or small at the moment. Cheques should be made payable to: Palace Barracks Memorial Gardens:
The website is: www.palacebarracksmemorialgarden.org/Intro.htm and his contact details are
Mr Albert Owens MBE
Memorial Custodian
Palace Barracks Memorial Gardens
Holywood.

I wonder if you could post an extract of this on the NIVA Website, it is a really good cause and one that will be near and dear to many OP Banner Vets.
Kind Regards
