Kerry, Your Dad's Army Number suggests that he served over 20 years. Many of our members would have served with him. The name sounds familiar to me but I can't put a face to it right now. My Number starts 243 so he joined just before me. (Around 1971). Sorry I can't be any further help. Ed

believe me, you've done more than enough just letting me become a member. you have given me the best chance i have of finding my dad and/or learning about his life in the kings. my dads last posting was inglis barracks, mill hill london 1990ish, before that NI ballykelly so any info from that time would be a vital link to understanding who my dad was or even a link to where he might be now x

Hi Kerry... i served with your dad in NI Colchetser & Germany, the last time i saw him was 1984 in Germany, he used to live in Dodeshieder on married quarters. Are you sure of his army number?? i think it may start 243 & not 242...I have contacts withing the Royal British Legion i will make some enquires to trace him for you. However there may be an issue with data protection which i will need to clarify first.. regards Brian (Cammy)

(Cammy) Ballykelly is also a MQ site, (not the airfield) or was until the 90's. I don't know whether this is significant or useful in your search Kerry.

Hi kerry, I served with a mick lawlor in sion mills in Ireland. He was in the recce platoon, he kept a dobermann there. I don't know where he went after that as I was transferred to the M.T (1975). Jim Drysdale

Jim Drysdale Jimbo, The Dobermann at Sion Mills in 75 was mine, his name was Tusker. He went on the run after a brief contact that ended up with my Land rover on it's side at the weighbridge by the high sangar at the bottom of the hill coming in to Strabane. He walked in with a brick three days later in spite of threats to kneecap him like they did with the Collie at the other entry barrier round the other side. Then again, I seem to remember someone else with a dog but I didn't think it was a Dobermann.
